Just recently, actually today, it has come to my attention that an actor, Jason Biggs, has decided that he is a comedian. He thought it would be funny if he tweeted derogitory things about a couple of women. Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney's wives to be exact.
I will not repeat what was said other than it was vulgar and oh so filthy. Whether you agree with the politics of these two men or not, it does not give anyone the right to say the things he said about these two women.
I know that there will be some of you who think that people are making a big deal out of nothing. But let me ask you a question. Would you want him saying those things about your wife, your mom, your sister or even a close friend, or for those of you who think the president hung the moon, about his wife for that matter? Would it be a big deal then?
Where does any man get off thinking that just because he is "famous" that he can get away with saying what he wants and there are no reprocussions? And honestly, he is famous for sticking his private parts into a pie and masturbating. That is who we are setting up on a pedastal these days? Really??
I know that many of your children and grandchildren and your nieces and nephews watch the T.V. channel Nickelodeon. Well as I understand it, Mr. Biggs has signed a contract with them to be the voice of one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I don't know about you but I would not want my children to be anywhere in the room where this man could have any influence on them. And honestly I thought Nickelodeon had higher standards than that.
I know everyone was up in arms about Todd Akin and his comments not too long ago. He was raked over the coals about it and continues to be so. But when you stand by and say nothing or do nothing about what Mr. Biggs said then you are as much as condoning it yourselves.
Where is the indignity now? Why is it okay for him to say these things? It is never okay for a man to say these things. I will not repeat what he said because truthfully it made me sick to read it. But for those of you who have a twitter account you can look it up.
And even if he does apologize, why would we accept it as being anything but disingenuous. Todd Akin apologized and it was rejected. I do not believe that Mr. Biggs would ever be genuinely sorry for what he said. Just sorry that he is being called out on it.
I would like to encourage you to write Nickelodeon and let them know your concerns. Someone has to say something to them. Let them know that this is not acceptable. I sent them a note letting them know how I felt about the situation. I would hope that you would do the same. I am tired of celebreties thinking that they are above reproach. Won't someone take a stand with me?
This is the note that I wrote them...
I am concerned that you would have someone in your employment that would be an example to my grandchildren that would say such horrible things about women. It is a concern to me. I didn't know how else to get a message to you. I hope it comes in loud and clear. If you are not aware of what Jason Biggs has said, go look on twitter, it is not that hard to find. It is very offensive. Do you not have standards? Are women not of value to this station? Or is it the mighty dollar that gets you talking. They say publicity, good or bad, is publicity. I don't really think it is. I would encourage all of my children and grandchildren and my friends and their children and their grandchildren to stay clear of filth and proprieters of filth. I hope I am making myself heard. This person Jason Biggs is a filthy, horrible person to say the things he did about Paul Ryan and Mitt Romneys wives. Show that you don't condone those things. Please!!!
